A female Alaskan Brown Bear glares upstream at a threatening male bear while her spring cub hides underneath her. This mother bear fought off two male bears who tried to kill her cub in different attacks. She risked fishing for sockeye salmon in the Brooks Falls area of Katmai National Park -- which is where the dominant male bears fish. Mom was successful though in fighting off the males and in catching some salmon.
